Yes, I’m alive. And fine.
Just...really busy, and rather wanting for inspiration. ~~;; It really hasn’t been an ideal
couple of months, but I’m back for now. I figured that I’ve been
distracted from my online duties long enough. Sincere thanks to all
those who sent me e-mails concerning the state of the fanfic and the state of my health. ^^
I really needed them.
And by the way, Chapter Thirteen is complete and online—no, really. It is. :P
So, whaddaya think of the (slight) change in design? The cast pic was relatively easy to draw
(okay, squeezing everyone into a circle took some time), but
coloring it was another story. >_< I promised on my last update that I’d have new title
pic, and although it took a while, I hope it alters the look of the site a bit.
Oh, and check this out: “Dynasty” is getting a radio play of its own, courtesy
of the classy Anime Vertex and
its lovely webmaster, Empress Venus! ^o^ Go there. Now. And download the trailer while you’re
at it. The voice cast sounds absolutely amazing, and the mixing and direction are top-notch!
I still can’t believe that my fanfic gets to be a radio play! ^_^
Again, I’m really sorry for the erratic updates and prolonged lulls between chapters.
If I haven’t answered any of your e-mails—and I know I must’ve missed a number
of them—please know that it wasn’t intentional. Although
I’ve been feeling rather burned out creatively, I still appreciate it that
you’ve taken the time to let me know what you thought about the
fic—and its slower-than-molasses progress. ^^ Hopefully I’ll
be able to get into the writing groove again, and the wait between chapters won’t be as
tedious. Well, here's to eternal optimism... :)

Wow...100,000 hits. O.o I’m stunned, flabbergasted,
and just humbled. Thank you all. As a token of my gratitude, I’ve finally
gotten Chapter Thirteen: Part A of “Dynasty” online!
I’m sorry if it’s rather short for something that’s supposedly been on the
burner for the better part of two months. I intended to release Chapter Thirteen
in its entirety, but I hit an unexpected snag at the final part, and it was
taking too long to have it straightened out. So instead I resorted to my
old habit of releasing chapters in two parts; I hope you don’t mind waiting
for Part B just a little bit longer. But once it’s up, you’ll also be seeing
an all-new “Dynasty: Book I” cast picture for the “Dynasty” entrance site
to replace the long-dormant “Ranko” picture. Hope that’ll soften
the delay just a bit.
Oh, and just in case you’re interested, the
Site Formerly Known As “Evolution” is once again up and doing business! Wanna
see how it looks in Digital Clay?
Again, thanks to all those people who sent in
e-mail and signed my guestbook! You guys constitute a good part of my
inspiration, and you never fail to remind me why I love to write.

LIST! Okay, so this ain’t a real
update. *sheepish grin* But there’ve been lots of requests for a
mailing list ever since I took over this site,
and I never quite came around to setting one up. Muchos gracias to Anh, who
reminded me. :) So now, instead of checking again and again on the site for
updates that never seem to be there ^o^, you can get little notices in your
inbox!
Oh, and thank you to all those who wrote to
me with their support! I really appreciate everyone who took the time to
let me know that there were still people who were awaiting future chapters
in spite of my horribly long absence. I hope that this fanfic’ll be worth
all the trouble. ^_^ Again, thank you for your words and patience with
me.

1.24.01 NEWS:
Last May, as some of you may know,
I went on an overseas trip back to my old stomping grounds. Unfortunately,
when the plane touched down on my former homeland’s soil, I found out that
my faithful old travel-worn Pullman, which I had checked in as luggage at
the San Francisco terminal, had disappeared. In it, aside from the usual
traveling essentials, were diskettes with unfinished CGs, the
“Dynasty” fanfic outline, handwritten notes collected from dozens of library
books on Japanese history and mythology (yes, I had to do research on certain
aspects of this story), a drawing book bloated with existing and original
character sketches, and scans from the untranslated compilations of the
Ranma ½ manga (plus
an N*Sync magazine and a brand-new, not-even-unwrapped videotape of the
Sailor Moon “Promise of the Rose” movie—gifts I was planning
to give to my two best friends—but let’s not get into that now). The
point is, I never saw my Pullman again.
I will always rue the day I decided to lug all
that important stuff with me on my vacation. When summer ended, I started
my freshman year at an out-of-state college, and it was easier to immerse
myself in schoolwork and not think about my unfinished fanfic rather than
remember my long-lost baggage and become irked all over again.
But “Dynasty” is my baby: always has been, always
will, and I’ve sworn to complete this story come hell or high water, so I
resumed writing the second half of Chapter Twelve in November. Chapter Thirteen
is, as of this writing, about 80% completed, and should be up soon, if
there’s any justice in the world.
Anyhow, I’d like to apologize yet again (and
again and again...*sigh*) for being practically dead to the online world
these past months. I’ve lost quite a backlog of e-mails—to the person
who requested the Akari/Ryouga/Original Character picture, if you’re reading
this, please re-send me your address! And to the eagle-eyed reader who spotted
a discrepancy with the Nodoka referral in Chapter Eleven, thank you for telling
me!
Uhm...in any case, I’ll be finishing up Chapter
Thirteen and then Chapter Fourteen before bringing a close to Book I of
“Dynasty”, and while I’m at it, I’ll be working on the blueprints for a new
32-page Ranma ½ doujinshi, tentatively titled “Glass” (for an
after-series doujinshi anthology compiled by other fan artists), coming up
with redesigns for both my sites, and searching for a better-paying job so
I can get a PC of my own with a monitor where I can actually see what
I’m writing down. :)
Again, I apologize for my absence, and I hope
to establish a more palpable presence online in the following months. I’ve
hardly scratched the surface of the story I want to tell, so please bear
with me and my erratic updates. Thank you for your continued patience with
me.
